Thursday is the official application deadline for our 2011 trip, but you have until Friday to sign on!
Join us for this exciting adventure in Liberia, Costa Rica. For little more than the cost of a semester’s resident tuition at the University of Utah, you can earn up to nine UU credit hours and three graduation requirements. In six weeks instead of sixteen. In Costa Rica.
The program cost ($3,000) covers tuition, housing, two meals a day and laundry services.
You don’t have to be enrolled at the University of Utah to writng in Costa Rica! Writing in Costa Rica is open to all eligible University of Utah students and alumni, students enrolled in other colleges, and qualified members of the community.
For UU students, the program fulfills 3 graduation requirements (IR, WR-2 and CW); 9 UU credit hours; 6 hours toward the Latin American Studies major, 6 hours of the Literacy Studies: Rhetoric and Writing Minor, and 3 hours of the Service Learning Scholar program.

The University of Utah’s Latin American Studies Program (LAS) will allow six Writing in Costa Rica credit hours to count toward the LAS major.
Writing in Costa Rica also fulfills two of the required classes for the Minor in Rhetoric and Writing.

Non-U of U students should download the payment form from the online application and submit their initial program payment directly to the Study Abroad Office.
All applications will be reviewed by the Program Director and Study Abroad Advisor to determine eligibility. UU applicants will be notified through their Umail address regarding their acceptance into the program.

Scholarships are available for U of U students. Applications for all scholarships will be due March 25, 2011. Visit the Study Abroad Office for more information on the scholarship application process. Other forms of financial aid (student loans, grants, etc.) can be applied to the program cost.
